Top & Base Coats FAQ
What's the difference between base and top coats?
Base coats stick to the nail and help polish stick better. They also protect nails from staining. Top coats go on last to seal the color, make nails shine, and stop chipping. They are made differently - base coats are stickier while top coats are harder.
Why should I buy professional top and base coats?
Professional products have better ingredients that make manicures last longer and look better. They work better than cheap brands, which makes your clients happier and they come back more often. Your services will have fewer problems like lifting or peeling.
Can I use gel and regular base/top coats together?
No. Gel products need UV/LED light to harden, while regular products dry in air. If you mix them up, the manicure won't last, might not stick well, or could be very hard to remove.
How do I choose the right top and base coats?
Look at how well they stick, how long they last, if they work with your polishes, how easy they are to remove, what finish they give (shiny or matte), and if they're good for sensitive clients. Pick products that match what services you offer in your salon.
Do I need different base/top coats for different clients?
Yes. Clients have different nail problems - some have ridges, others have soft or oily nails. Having different options lets you fix specific problems. You can use ridge-filling bases or strengthening formulas for weak nails, and different top coats for the finish they want.
